On the afternoon of September 20, the 2026 International Student Opening Ceremony of Shandong Agriculture and Engineering University was grandly held at the Zibo Campus. More than 160 international students from 24 countries crossed mountains and seas to gather at our university, officially commencing their study journey here.
The ceremony was attended by Han Juan, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department of the university; Zhang Xinzheng, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Foreign Affairs Office of Zibo Municipal People's Government and Executive Vice President of the Zibo People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Tang Shouli, Captain of the Exit-Entry Administration Detachment of Zibo Municipal Public Security Bureau; and Zhou Ming, Deputy Captain of the detachment. Relevant heads from the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, the School of Information Science and Engineering, the School of Forestry Engineering, and the School of International Education, faculty representatives, class advisors, and all 2026 international students attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Men Huihua, Director of the International Affairs Office and Dean of the School of International Education.
In her address, Han Juan extended a warm welcome to the 2026 international students on behalf of the university and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Zibo Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and the Exit-Entry Administration Detachment of Zibo Municipal Public Security Bureau for their long-standing care and support for the university's international student education. She briefly introduced the university's history, disciplinary features, and achievements in internationalization, encouraging students to cherish their study time, study diligently, immerse themselves in cultural experiences, and become friendly messengers of Sino-foreign cultural exchange.
In his remarks, Zhang Xinzheng fully affirmed the university's achievements in international education, cultivation of internationally oriented talents, and Sino-foreign cultural exchange. He noted that Zibo is an open, inclusive, and vibrant city, and that the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office will continue to support the university's international exchange and cooperation, providing convenience for international students to study and live in Zibo. He encouraged students to integrate into Zibo and fall in love with the city as soon as possible, gaining knowledge, friendship, and personal growth here.
Tang Shouli delivered a legal education lecture for all new students in the form of "Lesson One for the New Semester." He systematically explained visa application, residence permits, laws and regulations, and safety precautions, citing real cases to remind students to enhance their legal awareness and safety awareness, and to become international students who understand and abide by the law.
Faculty representative Li Xiaomei encouraged new students to adapt to the new environment as soon as possible, overcome language and cultural differences, maintain their enthusiasm for knowledge, and grow steadily through down-to-earth efforts. International student representatives Mou De (Yemen), Xie Muyan (Russia), Ma Siming (Afghanistan), and Tu Ya (Mongolia) shared their original aspirations and expectations for studying in China, expressing their determination to cherish the opportunity, integrate into campus life, pursue academic excellence, learn Chinese culture, and strive to become cultural messengers connecting China and the world.
During the ceremony, the 2026 new students also presented talent performances, featuring wonderful singing and dancing programs that showcased the unique charm of various cultures and the youthful vitality of the new students. The atmosphere was warm and lively.
At the conclusion of the event, all attending leaders, faculty members, and 2026 international students gathered in front of the library for a group photo.
It is reported that after registration, the university organized a series of orientation activities for the 2026 international students, including campus exploration check-in, practical Chinese language training, and cultural experience sessions, to help new students adapt to the campus environment and integrate into university life as soon as possible. The holding of this opening ceremony marked the official commencement of the 2026 international students' academic journey at Shandong Agriculture and Engineering University.
