On March 13, a seven-member delegation led by Prof. Manuel Rodenas and Prof. Arantxa Aznar, Vice Presidents of Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT) in Spain, paid a visit to our university. Zhou Jipeng, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President, met with the delegation and attended the symposium. Officials in charge and relevant stafffromthe International Affairs Office, the School of Agriculture Science and Technology and the School of Food Science and Engineering participated in the event.

On behalf of the university, Zhou Jipeng extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and briefly introduced the university’s history, academic strengths and international development. He noted that deepening international educational cooperation is an important path to advancing the high-quality development of the university, and he expressed the hope that that both sides would take this visit as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and achieve complementary advantages andmutual benefitin areas such as faculty and student exchanges and joint programs.
Manuel Rodenas expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and provided a detailed introduction to UPCT’s institutional profile, disciplinary strengths and international cooperation strategies. He noted that Shandong Agriculture and Engineering University has achieved remarkable results in applied talent cultivation and agricultural science and technology innovation, and that there are broad prospects for cooperation between the two universities in fields such as agricultural engineering, food science, and information engineering, and expressed his expectation of jointly promoting educational and cultural exchanges between China and Spain.
At the symposium, Professor Shu Jing, Dean of the School of Agriculture Science and Technology, introduced the college’s progress in discipline development, teaching reform and transformation of scientific research achievements in recent years, and put forward specific suggestions for further cooperation with UPCT in the future. The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics such as the joint talent cultivation mechanisms, cooperative education models, and the development of international research platforms, and reached a number of preliminary cooperation agreements in a warm and productive atmosphere. After themeeting, the delegation toured the teaching and scientific research laboratories of the School of Food Science and Engineering, and spoke highly of the university’s teaching conditions, scientific research strength and achievements in internationalization.
Both sides agreedtotake this exchange as a new starting point to continuously advance practical cooperation, strive to achieve high-quality outcomes at an early date, and make positive contributions to regional economic and social development as well as Sino-Spanish cultural exchanges.
