On April 24, the First Chinese Dubbing Contest of Shandong Agriculture and Engineering University, jointly organized by the International Affairs Office and Students Work Department, was successfully held at the Zibo Campus. As one of the featured activities in the “I Love Chinese” series, the contest was divided into two categories—Domestic Group and International Group—and attracted a total of 27 teams of Chinese and international students to compete on the same stage. More than 300 teachers and students attended the event. Through expressive dubbing performances, participants conveyed emotions through voice and built bridges through language, experiencing the beauty of the Chinese language while presenting a cross-cultural audiovisual feast.

Zhou Jipeng, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President, attended the event and delivered a speech. He noted that the Chinese language carries a literary and cultural heritage spanning thousands of years. The dubbing contest, he emphasized, is not only an engaging platform for honing language expression and showcasing vocal charm, but also a warm bond that connects the hearts of young people from different countries and enhances mutual understanding. He encouraged students to express meaning through voice and become youthful ambassadors of cultural exchange.

During the competition, Chinese and international contestants took turns performing, with works covering classic films, animation, and documentaries. Some performances conveyed deep patriotic sentiment, while others vividly recreated moments of everyday life. Chinese contestants demonstrated solid skills and delicate emotional expression, while international participants showed great sincerity, incorporating character costumes and creative props into their performances. Though occasionally less polished, their performances were genuine and endearing, earning continuous rounds of applause and laughter from the audience.

After intense competition, the contest awarded 6 first prizes, 8 second prizes, and 13 third prizes. In addition, based on on-site audience voting, special awards were presented, including Best Chinese Pronunciation Award, Best Teamwork Award, and Most Popular Award.

After the event, participants expressed that through exchange and mutual learning, they deeply felt the power of language to transcend national boundaries. They stated their intention to continue improving their Chinese proficiency and to express themselves with confidence. The contest not only provided a platform for Chinese and international students to showcase their talents and engage in mutual learning, but also promoted the integration and coexistence of different cultures through interaction. Looking ahead, the university will continue to develop the “I Love Chinese” series of branded activities, using language as a bridge to support the shared growth of Chinese and international youth, and to enable Chinese culture to shine with even greater brilliance through youthful exchange.
