On May 26, the 2026 Annual Meeting of China-CEEC Modern Agricultural Science and Education Innovation Alliance & Meeting of Agriculture and Life Sciences Community of China-CEEC Higher Education Institutions Consortium grandly opened in Jinan, Shandong. Hosted by the Alliance, the conference was themed "Working Hand in Hand to Create Smart and Green Agriculture." Wang Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SDAEU Committee and President of Shandong Agriculture and Engineering University, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and deliver a keynote speech at the Forum on Smart and Green Agricultural Innovation and Development.

Under the theme “Green Agriculture, Our Mission in Action; Serving Society,a New Chapter Unfolding,” President Wang shared the University’s practical experience and notable achievements in promoting green development. His speech highlighted the University’s work in ecological protection technologies for the Yellow River Basin, green agricultural management, green logistics and loss-reduction technologies for agricultural products, and technologies for agricultural waste recycling.Henoted that, as a founding member and governing council member of the Alliance, the University will continue to leverage the Allianceas aplatform for international cooperation. With a focus on the core issues in the development of smart and sustainable agriculture, the University will deepen collaboration with Alliance members in areas including the comprehensive utilization of agricultural waste resources, breeding salt-tolerant crops for saline-alkali soils, and the digital transformation of carbon markets. These efforts will further support China’s national agricultural development strategy and the broader framework of agricultural cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries, contributing to the high-quality development of modern agriculture.

The meeting was held as one of the events under the framework of the Seventh China-CEEC Local Leaders’Meeting and the 2026 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Exchange Week.The meeting approved the admission of 12 new members to the Alliance, released the Alliance’s 2025 Annual Work Report, andadopted the “Jinan Initiative on Working Together for Smart and Sustainable Agriculture.”
