Yang Wujie, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of Shandong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, congratulated the conference on its opening. He stated that Shandong is accelerating the development of a pilot zone for high-quality green and low-carbon agricultural growth. Scientific and technological innovation is urgently needed to support agricultural green transformation. He looked forward to valuable suggestions from experts for Shandong’s agricultural advancement and invited all parties to share development opportunities in Shandong. Wang Yingkuan, Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, outlined the society’s history and mandate. He remarked that green and low-carbon agricultural development forms a core national strategic priority. The Society will continue to connect research and industrial resources to advance work in agricultural loss reduction, energy conservation and the resource utilization of agricultural waste, supporting the development of an agricultural powerhouse.

Jeon Taejoon, Vice President of Inha University (Republic of Korea), delivering a speech

Arantxa Aznar, Vice President of Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (Spain), delivering a speech

Jeon Taejoon, Vice President of Inha University (Republic of Korea), extended congratulations and voiced his commitment to strengthening academic exchanges, talent training and research collaboration between Chinese and Korean universities in green agriculture. He looked forward to jointly exploring new pathways for sustainable agricultural development. Arantxa Aznar, Vice President of Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (Spain), shared the university’s experience in international cooperation on green agricultural product processing. She indicated that the conference would act as a platform to boost joint research between Chinese and Spanish universities in relevant fields and accelerate the industrial application of technological achievements.

Launching Ceremony of the Belt and Road Green Agricultural Engineering Research Center

Witnessed by all delegates, the Belt and Road Green Agricultural Engineering Research Center was officially launched. Recently approved as a provincial foreign affairs think tank platform, the center is dedicated to supporting Belt and Road cooperation on green agriculture and providing academic support and think tank services for international collaborative innovation in green agricultural engineering across Shandong Province. Its launch marks a new milestone for the university in international exchange and think tank development within green agricultural engineering.

During the plenary keynote session, four top international experts shared cutting-edge research advances. Professor Fang Zhen, Academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, systematically illustrated high-value conversion technologies and industrial applications of agricultural renewable biomass resources, offering practical approaches for agricultural resource recycling and carbon reduction and efficiency gains. Professor Wang Tao, former Vice President of China Agricultural University, adopted systems engineering theories to propose integrated solutions for agricultural machinery and agronomy, providing guidance for rebuilding an efficient and eco-friendly modern agricultural system. Professor Arantxa Aznar drew on industrial practices to elaborate on the unique value of fermentation technologies in fresh-keeping and high-value utilization of agricultural products, sharing international experience for low-carbon agricultural processing. Professor Jimmy Botella from the University of Queensland, Australia, interpreted how genome-editing technologies drive crop improvement and the emerging food industry, offering forward-looking references for fostering new agricultural productive forces. Covering the full chain of basic research, technological innovation and industrial application, the four keynote speeches resonated strongly with attendees.

Parallel Session 1: Green Production of Horticultural Crops and Intelligent Agricultural Equipment

Parallel Session 2:Green Preservation of Agricultural Products and Technology Innovation of Low-Carbon Processing

Parallel Session 3:Construction of Agricultural Carbon Evaluation System and Circular Utilization of Ecological Resources

Parallel Session 4: Theoretical Exploration of Green Agricultural Engineering

The conference featured four parallel sessions alongside an exhibition of green agricultural engineering technologies and products. The parallel sessions focused respectively on “Green Production of Horticultural Crops and Intelligent Agricultural Equipment”, “Green Preservation of Agricultural Products and Technology Innovation of Low-Carbon Processing”, “Construction of Agricultural Carbon Evaluation System and Circular Utilization of Ecological Resources”, and “Theoretical Exploration of Green Agricultural Engineering”. Experts and scholars from around the world exchanged ideas on intelligent agricultural machinery, post-harvest loss reduction and preservation, recycling of agricultural waste, and farmland pollution abatement, carbon reduction and carbon sequestration. Concurrent with the conference, the technology and product exhibition was held in the hotel lobby. Thirty-one enterprises including Shandong Wushuyuan Ecological Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd. displayed core technologies and distinctive products, creating a direct platform for industry-university-research matchmaking and attracting numerous delegates for visits, negotiations and technical cooperation.

First launched in 2024, the Conference on Green Agricultural Engineering has successfully held for three consecutive sessions with steadily growing academic influence and industrial recognition. This year’s conference aims to build an innovation network for deep collaboration among governments, industries, universities, research institutes and end-users. It promotes breakthroughs in frontier theories, key technological innovation and industrial transformation in green agricultural engineering. Beyond serving as a high-level exchange hub for global peers in this field, the conference showcases China’s innovative practices in green agriculture to the international community. It carries positive implications for deepening international research collaboration in agricultural engineering and advancing the comprehensive green transition of agriculture, while delivering practical support for green agricultural engineering technologies to underpin the national “Dual Carbon” strategy.
